Transitional Out of Home Supports Program
Banyan’s Transitional Out of Home Supports Program, a residence program for individuals 12 to 17 years of age in Hamilton, Ontario. A licensed Staff Model Home program under the Ministry of Children, Community, and Social Services (MCCSS), this residence program assists children and youth in need of mental health or behavioural supports who are transitioning to long term or permanent residence.
This evidence-informed program is guided by the following best practices:

Licensing and Compliance
The MCCSS regional office is responsible for Licensing and Compliance under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, 2017 (CYFSA). The Ministry supports Banyan in achieving and maintaining compliance. The Ministry’s focus is on the best interests, protection and well‑being of children and youth.

The primary goal of the program.
The primary goal of Banyan’s Transitional Out of Home Supports Program is to provide a protective, stable, caring, and supportive home environment for children/youth in which they are given opportunity and encouragement to grow and mature towards responsible independence in our community.
This goal will be achieved by focusing on the child/youth’s presenting problems and teaching them skills necessary to cope in their homes and community. Skills training, school retention, and a reduction of harmful behaviours are targeted for overall success and personal growth.
